FAQ
Orders and Shipping

Where does Wine + Peace ship?

Wine + Peace ships to all states within the Continental U.S. except AL, KY, MS, and UT. However, availability of certain products may vary depending on where your order is being shipped. This is because wine purchased on our site is shipped directly from individual wineries, and while many of our wineries may be licensed to ship to your state, others may not be. So please don’t forget to enter your zip code as you navigate the site to find out which wines are currently available to you.

Can I still buy wine if I live in a state or county where direct wine shipments are not permitted?

Heck yeah! Just have your shipment sent to an address in a legal state or zip code. This could be a commercial address or the home address of a friend or family member. All you have to do is return to our homepage and enter this new zip code and go to town 🙂

What if only a limited selection of wines are available in my area?

Hang tight! We are working hard to help each of our wineries expand into every state where direct sales are presently allowed. So if a particular wine isn’t available to you now, please check back soon, as this will likely change. Additionally, we are onboarding new wineries all the time, so you can expect the selection of wines available to you to continue to expand and improve.

Are there specific zip codes or counties within legal states to which Wine + Peace cannot deliver wine?

Yes. A few dry zip codes and counties do exist — we know because we grew up in one. Unfortunately, we can’t ship wine to addresses located in these areas. Find out if this will affect you by clicking the links below, provided by our friends at the Wine Institute.

How much does shipping cost?

For us, making wine more accessible means making shipping more affordable. That’s why we discount shipping on every order made through our site. We charge a flat rate of $10 for any 3-bottle order, regardless of where we’re sending it. We also provide free shipping when you order six or more bottles  from a single winery.

This last part is important, so let us explain.

Our site allows you to buy wine directly from the wineries themselves, which means shipping offers are on a per winery basis. For example, if you were to order 3 bottles from Winery A and 3 bottles from Winery B you will pay a total of $20 dollars for shipping and receive 2 separate packages. To be clear: this is still a steal! Most other sites charge anywhere from $40 and $50 to ship 6 bottles. However, for the ultimate Wine + Peace experience (and to really get your money’s worth) we encourage you to explore and purchase wines from individual winemakers. Not only will you save on shipping, but you will experience the pleasure that comes from a deeper understanding and connection.

Is there a minimum order amount?

Yes. Three bottles is the minimum order we offer. When we looked at the effort vs economic gain for our wineries plus the environmental impact, shipping boxes containing fewer than 3 bottles simply didn’t add up. So we settled on a model that sets us on a path for long-term sustainability.

Why can’t I mix wines from different producers in a single shipment?

We exist to support small producers across the U.S., and to help you drink the best wine. To accomplish this, we shorten the supply chain, which means any wine ordered on our site is coming directly from the wineries themselves. It’s the very nature of this model — no warehouses, no inventory, no crazy logistics — that enables us to concentrate on what we do well: creating a fun community online, bringing you a rich diversity of wines, and offering discounted shipping. But this also means no mixed cases between different producers — at least for now. What do we suggest instead? Build a case with many different wines from a single producer, which offers the same potential for surprise and discovery, while exploring the individual expression of a single winemaker. Also, at a $10 flat rate for any three bottles, you can order a case’s worth of wine (12 bottles) from four different producers and at $40 you’d still be paying less for shipping than on most other traditional wine e-commerce sites.

How long will it take to receive my order?

All orders are fulfilled within 2-3 business days, and the average overall weight time from order to delivery is 1 week (varies based on your location and weather). We keep a very close eye on climate, monitoring hot zones (both at your location and along the route), so that we can hold the delivery or adjust shipping methods if necessary. Even though we work with wineries of all shapes and sizes, we have streamlined the process so that you can count on your wine arriving safely and efficiently, and we promise to keep in touch with you every step of the way to provide updates and delivery information.

Do I have to be at least 21 to receive my wine?

Yes. Someone who is at least 21 years old must be available to sign for each shipment. When providing us with a shipping address please take this into account, as all packages are labeled as containing wine and legally require an in-person signature. Carriers will not leave packages unattended even if they have a signature on file.

Should I ship to my home, work address, or FedEx office?

Since who is 21 or older must be available to sign for the delivery, we have a handful of shipping solutions that we highly recommend to help give you the best shipping experience!

Business Address
Under normal circumstances, it’s best to use a business address whenever possible. However, if you’re working from home these days, your home address is the way to go.

Apartment Office/Doorman
If you live in an apartment building with a leasing manager, you might also want to check with them to see if they are available to sign.

Ask a Friend
You may also consider shipping to a friend or neighbor who is generally available to sign for packages.

How can I track my order once it ships?

We will send you an email with a tracking number.

Please allow up to 48 hours for your tracking number to begin sharing updates. These will include the projected delivery date and, if you missed the first attempt, the projected date of the next delivery attempt, as well as the shipment’s most recent location and other useful information.

I just realized I made a mistake when placing my order. Can I update it?

Orders are processed almost immediately, and thus we cannot guarantee we will be able to make any changes to orders after they are placed. However, we are happy to try! If you need to change your address or update any other detail about your order please email hello@wineandpeace.com with “Change My Order” in the subject line, and include your order number and a clear description of what needs to be changed. We promise that we will do everything in our power to accommodate your request.

About Wine + Peace

What is Wine + Peace?

Wine + Peace is a new kind of online wine shop — a curated selection of responsibly made wines directly from the best small producers in the country. Unlike other e-commerce sites and physical retailers, we don’t buy from distributors or mark up our wines. Instead, we selectively partner with independent wineries across the U.S. to bring you some truly amazing wines directly from the source. It’s a new, more transparent model that means sustainable profits for wineries, and better wines for you.

How do you decide what products to feature on Wine + Peace?

We exist to support small producers who are working responsibly and making delicious wines. Inherent to this mission is a quality-over-quantity approach, a revolt against the choice overload of the traditional buying experience, in which the good stuff is lost in a sea of mediocre. In evaluating a wine, our team asks a few basic, but all-important questions: Is it delicious? Is it worth the price? Is it stylistically distinct? We drink and discuss these wines in a fun and relaxed manner, the way we believe they are meant to be enjoyed. Then comes the more challenging (and rewarding) part. We dig deeper to explore what drives the winemaker: How does she work? What does she stand for? In what ways is she putting her values into action? This line of inquiry is designed to help us seek out those who are considering the broader impact of their decisions on the environment and their communities.
