Arriving from a new vineyard source for the 2019 rendition of this wine, our Verdelho grapes come from the Borden Ranch appellation of Lodi. They are 18 year-old vines, grown on gravelly, Redding-clay-loam soils in a CCOF certified vineyard. Grapes were hand harvested and whole-cluster pressed the same day. The juice was pumped over prior to fermentation to help build texture into the wine and allow for a gently more oxidative style of winemaking. Wines were natively fermented, aged in neutral barrels, and kept on their lees (no stirring) until bottling. Minimal sulfur added, 79 cases produced. This wine has heaps of minerality and golden, tropical fruit. The nose is bright and warm, with lifted notes of lemon peel, caramelized pineapple, wet stone, and brioche. The palate is densely textured, with a chalky minerality and bright acidity.
