Production Notes
Partners Justin Willett and Eric Railsback were ahead of the curve when, in 2011, they decided to flip the script on ripeness and harness Santa Barbara’s cool climate to produce wines of riveting intensity. They accomplished this by focusing solely on varieties indigenous to the Loire Valley, France’s mecca for all things high acid, spirited and bright. From the beginning, this Sauvignon Blanc has been their calling card, a perfect embodiment of their mission to refresh and reframe California wine. Today their Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from Grassini, McGinley, and Star Lane vineyards, all located in Santa Barbara’s Happy Canyon. Fermentations were carried out in both tank and barrel, followed by aging in neutral barrels.
